Agartala, 14 September (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Tripura on 22 September and will inaugurate the re -developing campus of the famous Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur in South Tripura.
This temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Hinduism and is considered a major religious place of the state.
The Chief Minister made this announcement during the closing ceremony of Neermahal Jal Utsav held at Melaghar in Sipahijala district. He said that the BJP government is continuously working on the development of tourist places in the state.
CM Saha said that the Prime Minister will not only inaugurate the temple, but will also worship there. The temple is located about 65 km south of Agartala. “I had already invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate this temple,” he said.
According to a tourism department official, this 524 -year -old Tripura Sundari Temple has been redeveloped under the Central Government’s ‘Prasad’ scheme (pilgrimage rejuvenation and spiritual heritage promotion campaign). The project has cost more than Rs 52 crore, out of which the Tripura government has contributed Rs 7 crore.
Apart from this, the state government is also constructing 51 Shaktipeeth parks in Banduar in Gonmati district, which costs Rs 97 crore. In this, replicas of all 51 Shaktipeeths are being made.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the grandeur of Neermahal and said, “There is no such unique water palace anywhere else in the entire eastern India.” He said that this unique site should be identified in the country and abroad. Through social media, everyone should carry forward its culture and traditions, so that more and more tourists come here and the local economy gets strength.
Neermahal, which means “Jal Mahal,” is a beautiful palace which is located in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake. It is 53 km south of Agartala. It was built in 1930 as his summer residence by former King Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya inspired by the Mughal architecture.
The Chief Minister said that Raj Ghat of Neermahal will also be developed under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana of the Central Government. He said, “Prime Minister Modi is constantly trying to cherish the ancient culture and traditions of the country.”
CM Saha said that today Tripura is in second place in per capita income and GDP in Northeast India. He said, “We are also paying special attention to rural development and everyone will have to work towards making ‘a Tripura, Shrestha Tripura’.”
Many officials were present on the occasion including Higher Education Minister Kishore Burman, Soldierjala Zilla Parishad Assembly Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Tafjal Hussain, District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma.
