New Delhi, June 30 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called a high-level meeting with secretaries of all ministries and departments of the central government at ‘Seva Tirtha’. The meeting focused on wide-ranging discussions on the reform agenda, as the government pursues the next generation of administrative and economic reforms.

This meeting will mainly focus on topics like ‘Ease of Doing Business’, digital governance, relaxation in rules and ‘last-mile delivery’ (delivering services to the last person).

Apart from the Cabinet Secretary, the meeting was attended by two Principal Secretaries to the Prime Minister, P.K. Mishra and Shaktikanta Das and secretaries of all major departments are also included.

This is one of the first major Secretary-level meetings with the Prime Minister in the current financial year. This is being seen as a signal to align the bureaucracy with the government’s key policy priorities for the second half of 2026.

The meeting focuses on taking forward the government’s vision of ‘Developed India’ by simplifying rules, promoting ‘self-reliant India’ and increasing administrative efficiency in ministries and departments.

This meeting is the Prime Minister’s second wide-ranging interaction with top civil servants of the country.

The meeting is expected to discuss further reform measures on the government’s key reform agenda, especially ‘ease of doing business’ and ‘ease of living’. Senior officials can give updates on structural reforms, assess implementation progress and identify areas that need greater focus for timely completion of key policy initiatives.

This review is also important because the Central Government has recently launched an ambitious initiative like ’52 reforms in 52 weeks’ in many ministries including Railways, in which the time limit for their implementation has been clearly fixed.

Prime Minister Modi has always stressed the importance of achieving results within the stipulated time frame, making periodic reviews an important part of the functioning of the government.

The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to the ministries to assess progress, address implementation challenges and strengthen coordination to accelerate reforms. These reforms are aimed at improving public service delivery, reducing the burden of regulations and improving ease of doing business for industries as well as making life easier for citizens.
