Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) is falling apart in West Bengal. This 28 year old party is not able to digest its defeat even after 28 days; Its MLAs, MPs and councilors are all leaving the party. There is rebellion against Mamata from Kolkata to Delhi and all small and big leaders are in a race to leave the party. Meanwhile, a new problem has arisen in front of Mamata Banerjee: Kolkata Police has registered an FIR against her.
**What’s the matter?**
During a political speech in March 2026, Mamata had warned that if a particular community united, it could have dire consequences for others. Citing these public statements, a businessman lodged a complaint at Hare Street Police Station, which Kolkata Police has now formally registered as an FIR.
**Interrogation of Abhishek Banerjee**
Meanwhile, the police have also registered an FIR against Mamata’s nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee. CID interrogated Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday. Apart from this, police rounded up TMC leader Jahangir Khan in Falta. Khan was forced to roam the streets and alleys of Falta – an area where he once dominated – wearing only shorts. It is noteworthy that Jahangir Khan is accused of extortion, illegal possession and intimidation.
