Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday claimed regarding the incident of death of several people due to drinking contaminated water in Indore that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is a big fan of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, is as usual silent on this issue. He also alleged that there is corruption and rigging in every scheme, including Jal Jeevan Mission.
Kharge posted on This is the same Indore city which has won the title of cleanest city for the eighth consecutive time in the Central Government’s Swachh Survekshan. It is a shameful thing that due to the incompetence of the BJP, people here are in need of clean water.” He claimed that for 11 years, the country has only been listening to long speeches, falsehoods, hollow claims and double-engine brags.
The Congress President said, “When the Minister is asked a question, he resorts to abuses.” Due to arrogance of power, they overpower the journalists. The entire machinery gets involved in covering up the misgovernance of BJP governments.
Kharge alleged that there is corruption and rigging in every scheme, including the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said, “It is important to remind that under this mission, 10 percent of the Jal Jeevan Mission funds are given to clean contaminated water.”
The Congress President claimed, “Modi government and BJP have neither provided clean water nor clean air to the country. The general public is suffering.
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said on Friday that he has received information about the death of 10 people due to an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhea caused by drinking contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area of the city. However, local citizens have claimed that 14 people, including a six-month-old baby, have died due to this outbreak. This claim has not been confirmed by the Health Department.
