Tight security arrangements have been made before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Imphal in Manipur on Saturday. The city is fully decorated to welcome him. PM Modi is on a three -day visit to five states – Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar – from 13 to 15 September. During this visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 71,850 crore.
According to a release by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the yatra will begin from Mizoram, where the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inauguration of several projects worth more than Rs 9,000 crore in Eizol at around 10 am. He will also address a public meeting. These projects are connected to many areas including railway, road, energy and sports.
As part of the program, Modi will flag three new trains-Sararang (Aizawl)-Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal) Rajdhani Express, Sararang-Guwahati Express and Sararang-Kolkata Express. The Prime Minister’s Office said, “Aizawl will now directly connect with Delhi through Rajdhani Express. Sararang-Guwahati Express will facilitate movement between Mizoram and Assam, while Sararang-Kolkata Express will connect Mizoram directly to Kolkata.”
In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of major road projects including Aizawl bypass Road, Theinzole-Siyalsuk Road and Khankon-Rangura Road.
He will also lay the foundation stone of the Chimatuipui River Bridge on Longlai-Siyaha Road, which will provide connectivity in all seasons and reduce the time of travel by about two hours. The foundation stone of Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall will also be laid for sports development.
Strengthening the energy infrastructure in Mizoram, Modi will lay the foundation stone of LPG bottling plant with 30 TMTPA (one thousand metric tons per year) capacity in Aizawl’s Mulakhang.
In Manipur, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur at 12:30 pm. Among them, Manipur urban road worth Rs 3,600 crore, drainage and asset management project; Five national highway projects over Rs 2,500 crore; Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) Project; And there are hostels of working women at nine places.
Later, Modi will inaugurate development projects worth more than Rs 1,200 crore in Imphal and will address a public meeting at around 2:30 pm.
