Chandigarh, April 11 (IANS). Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the government has implemented several new initiatives to make the procurement system more transparent, secure and farmer-friendly. These initiatives will increase transparency, prevent unauthorized activities and provide faster and more convenient services to farmers.
CM Saini was reviewing the wheat procurement process in Babain grain market of Kurukshetra. Later, he interacted with the farmers on various aspects like bringing wheat to the market, selling the crop and receiving payment. Farmers praised the government and said that they did not face any kind of difficulty.
The Chief Minister honored farmer Dharam Chand, resident of Hamidpur, who had sold his wheat in front of him, by presenting him a shawl. Earlier, the Chief Minister and Vice President of Haryana State Child Welfare Council, Suman Saini were given a warm welcome on reaching the grain market.
The Chief Minister said that the government has made three-tier crop verification system mandatory. This system ensures that the crops brought to the procurement centers match the crops registered by the farmers. This is making the crop verification process more accurate and reliable.
The Chief Minister further said that the government is successfully conducting the procurement operations with complete transparency, accountability and smooth system. He said that the state government is fully committed to the interests of the farmers and will ensure procurement of every grain of their crops.
CM Saini said the government has implemented comprehensive reforms in the procurement system and appointed nodal officers in each market. Senior officials have been entrusted with the responsibility of regular monitoring of district markets, and Deputy Commissioners have been appointed in-charge of the district-level procurement system.
He said that ministers and MLAs are also visiting markets regularly to review the arrangements, so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.
