Chandigarh, June 14 (IANS). Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday flagged off three buses carrying devotees going on ‘Panch Teerth Yatra’ related to Dr. BR Ambedkar.
This pilgrimage starting from Chandigarh will give people an opportunity to see the historical places related to the life of Dr. Ambedkar, which have been developed and revamped under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dhillon said that this yatra, which will run till June 21, will include five major pilgrimage sites related to the life and legacy of Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar.
He said that the Central Government has not only developed these places with an investment of thousands of crores of rupees, but has also made special efforts to spread awareness about their historical and social importance.
During the yatra, devotees will visit Mhow (birth place), Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai, Mahaparinirvana Sthal in Delhi and Virtual Shiksha Bhoomi created in Delhi itself. All these places are deeply associated with the life of Dr. Ambedkar, his struggles and his huge contribution to social justice.
The Bharatiya Janata Party government has spent approximately Rs 2,000 crore on the development and preservation of these monuments, so that future generations continue to draw inspiration from the thoughts, ideals and contributions of Babasaheb.
About 150 devotees are taking part in this unique pilgrimage.
Punjab BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha president and former IAS officer SR Ladhar will lead the delegation.
Ladhar said that the main objective of ‘Panch Teerth Yatra’ is to take the message of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar to every section of the society and express the country’s gratitude towards him.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, these five pilgrimage sites associated with Babasaheb have received special national recognition and respect for the first time.
