Amritsar, May 22 (IANS). Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has praised the Punjab Police for busting a large network of cyber terrorism and arresting the main accused from West Bengal.
Addressing a press conference in Amritsar on Friday, Dhaliwal said that the Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann-led AAP government has given a clear message from the very beginning that any attempt to spread terror, firing, blasts or spoiling the atmosphere of the state will not be tolerated.
The MLA said that in today’s digital era, cyber terrorism has emerged as a new and serious challenge. Elements are active in spreading panic among the people by giving false threats to bomb schools, colleges and government buildings. Facing this challenge, Amritsar Police showed bravery and arrested the main accused of a large network of cyber terrorism from West Bengal.
Dhaliwal said that the arrested youth is 30 years old, who had contacts with many countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indian states. He was part of a big gang which kept spreading terror in many states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh through emails and WhatsApp groups. This person had also threatened to blow up the Punjab Secretariat, Assembly and Sri Darbar Sahib.
He said, “Controlling cyber terrorism is much more difficult than ordinary terrorism because any person can issue threats from America, Canada or any corner of the world. Despite this, the Punjab Police has done an excellent job.” Dhaliwal appealed to the people of Punjab and Amritsar not to panic. The AAP government is fully committed to the safety of every citizen.
Referring to the ongoing campaign against drugs in the press conference, he said that the Mann government has sent big drug smugglers to jail, which did not happen in any previous government.
He demanded from the Central Government to provide modern anti-drone technology and better weapons to the BSF soldiers deployed on the 332 km long border of Punjab.
Dhaliwal said that maintaining peace and security in Punjab is the top priority of the AAP government. The government’s action against both cyber crime and drug mafia will continue.
