The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday alleged that Rahul Gandhi hatched a “conspiracy to embarrass India” after Youth Congress leader Uday Bhanu Chib was arrested in connection with the protest at Bharat Mandapam during the India All Impact Summit 2026.
Addressing a press conference, Gaurav Bhatia described Gandhi as India’s “weakest link” and questioned his knowledge of the Constitution.
He said, “Rahul Gandhi hatched this conspiracy to embarrass India. Uday Bhanu Chib was arrested for organizing a shirtless protest by Youth Congress workers during the AL summit, and the Delhi Police had sought his 7-day remand from the court. Uday Bhanu Chib has been sent to four-day police custody. Rahul Gandhi has not even read a copy of the Constitution. India’s opposition leaders are India’s weakest link. The citizen obeys the Constitution because it is the thread that binds Indians together.”
Earlier this morning, a Delhi court sent Indian Youth Congress (IYC) President Uday Bhanu Chib to four days’ police custody in connection with the protest case.
According to officials, Chib is accused of being the main conspirator and mastermind behind the incident of unlawful assembly at the venue on Friday, February 20, 2026 and was allegedly involved in raising anti-national slogans and attempting to instigate a riot-like situation.
The police alleged that Chib, along with co-accused Shri Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Narasimha Yadav and Ajay Kumar Yadav, obstructed and assaulted the police officers on duty, and during interrogation he allegedly did not cooperate and failed to disclose the names of the other co-accused who absconded from the scene or the source of the T-shirts used by the protesters.
Police said investigation into the case is ongoing and Chib’s custody has been sought for further questioning and proper investigation.
Meanwhile, the ongoing investigation into the Indian Youth Congress protests during the summit has been handed over to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
