New Delhi, February 3 (IANS). BJP MP Anurag Thakur has strongly retaliated when Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the Central Government of pressure and compromise to make a trade deal with America. He said that the anti-India thinking of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party is clearly visible.
He said that happiness was seen on many faces of the opposition when America had increased the tariff on India, but when the India-America trade deal is going to take a historic form, then the opposition should have been happy.
While talking to the media, he said that earlier ‘Mother of All Deals’ had been signed with the European Union, while important agreements had also been signed with the United Kingdom, but instead of expressing happiness on all these, the opposition continuously raised questions. In such a situation, the question arises whether the opposition and the Congress party stand in the interest of India or against it.
He alleged that Congress seems to be standing against the Indian Army, trade deals and the leadership of the country, which clearly reflects the anti-India thinking of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party. He also said that the opposition does not want to allow Parliament to function smoothly.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur, while making a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, said that since 2014 till now, the Central Government has discussed every issue with an open mind. This time too, a good and meaningful discussion was going on on the President’s address, but opposition leader Rahul Gandhi violated democracy and the decorum of the House. Despite the Speaker’s ruling, Rahul Gandhi repeatedly disregarded it and instead of following the rules, kept deviating from the topic even after repeated warnings. Rahul Gandhi continued to speak on issues which were not allowed to be discussed in the House, even on books which had not been published.
Anurag Thakur also alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s intention was only to insult Indian soldiers. He said that the only agenda left for the Congress party now is to insult the Parliament, the Constitution and the constitutional institutions. When the Congress understood that the country got a wonderful budget and the President’s address clearly showed India’s progress and steps forward, the opposition was left with nothing to say. In this frustration, papers were torn and thrown towards the chair, which is very unfortunate.
The BJP MP further said that a person who does not even know that permission of the Speaker is required to speak in the House, how will he respect democratic traditions. Terming it as arrogance, he said that it is the arrogance of a family, which has been in power for a long time and is now unable to come out of the intoxication of power. Rahul Gandhi’s statement that he does not need permission shows that he has started considering himself bigger than the House. This thinking is leading the Congress party towards continuous electoral defeat and this thinking is also clearly visible in their anti-India comments.
