Rajasthan: CM Bhajanlal Sharma gives strict instructions regarding monsoon preparations, warns of action against negligence

Jaipur, July 16 (IANS). Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed all departments to be completely alert during monsoon. He warned that any negligence in preparations or relief work will not be tolerated.

CM Bhajanlal Sharma said that the safety of common people is the top priority of the government. He directed the officials to ensure that people do not face any problem due to heavy rains, waterlogging or damaged infrastructure.

While presiding over a high-level review meeting held on Thursday regarding monsoon preparations and repair of roads after rains, the Chief Minister told the officials that a detailed action plan should be prepared for immediate repair of damaged roads after rains and necessary precautionary measures should be taken in advance.

He directed to ensure 100 percent cleaning of drains across the state, so that rain water can drain easily and roads are not damaged due to overflow.

Apart from this, it was also asked to clean the drainage system on the roofs of government buildings, so that waterlogging and damage to the buildings can be avoided during heavy rains.

Emphasizing on public health, the Chief Minister directed the Health Department to take concrete steps to prevent seasonal diseases spreading during monsoon.

He asked to maintain adequate stock of essential medicines, keep emergency medical services fully prepared and strengthen measures to prevent water-borne and mosquito-borne diseases.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to be fully prepared for disaster management and relief operations. He said that the control room should remain fully active and accountable during monsoon.

He gave a clear warning that the officials concerned will be held responsible for negligence at any level and if found guilty, strict disciplinary action will be taken against them.

Disaster and flood management, status of water storage in dams and repair of public properties damaged by rain were also reviewed in the meeting.

Emphasizing the importance of water conservation, the Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a detailed inventory of all drinking water dams and make a long-term strategy for maximum utilization of excess rain water.

He said that rain water should not be allowed to go waste and effective use of excess water should be planned to meet future water requirements.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and senior officials of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
