Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-profile series of election rallies in West Bengal yesterday. Amidst these busy schedules, he stopped at a shop in Jhargram to eat *Jhalmuri*. Since then, the video of him eating *Jhalmuri* has gone viral across the country. However, this did not go down well with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who targeted PM Modi over this incident.
Describing the incident as a mere charade, Mamata Banerjee commented, “He installed a microphone inside *Jhalmuri’s* shop and then got SPG to groom *Jhalmuri*—just to do a drama! Sometimes, during elections, he goes into a cave; sometimes, he presents himself as a ‘chaiwala’ (tea seller)! He asked *Jhalmuri* to pay the money. Just think about it. If it wasn’t so, why were the cameras installed inside the shop? It’s all just a drama!”
Banerjee further alleged that wherever PM Modi holds a rally, people are brought there by trains; The crowd is mobilized from outside the area. He claimed that his party does not have the necessary grassroots manpower to deploy at polling stations, and instead depends on central agencies to exert pressure.
Giving a warning, Mamata said that TMC will form the government in three weeks and urged everyone to keep a close eye on the electronic voting machines (EVMs). He alleged that central forces have been assigned the task of tampering with EVMs. “Be alert!” He warned. “We have received intelligence that they may try to manipulate the vote counting process. Don’t step back even an inch. You have to keep fighting till the very end.”
It is worth noting that on Sunday, PM Modi stopped his convoy in Jhargram and tasted the famous street food of that region—*Jhalmuri*. After this the Prime Minister shared pictures and videos of this moment on his social media handle ‘X’. In his post, he wrote: “Amidst Sunday’s busy schedule—which included four public meetings across West Bengal—I took out some time to taste some delicious and spicy *jhalmuri* in Jhargram.”
The special thing is that on Sunday, PM Modi addressed huge public meetings in Purulia, Medinipur and Bankura of West Bengal. During these programs, he launched a scathing attack on TMC and said with full confidence that this time BJP is going to form the government in West Bengal.
