Chennai-based Agni News Service on Monday released opinion poll projections for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. In its survey, Agni News Survey has estimated that the DMK alliance is likely to get 44.9% of the votes in the upcoming assembly elections and win 180 of the 234 seats in the state.
The survey further estimates that with 38.5% of the votes, the AIADMK alliance is expected to win 54 constituencies and will face another major defeat, failing to win a single seat in the Chennai region and securing only 2 seats in the Central region.
Cinema star Vijay’s film ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ is expected to get 9.7% votes, while Seeman’s ‘Naam Tamilar Katchi’ is likely to get 4.8% votes and other parties are expected to get 2.1% votes.
According to the survey, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay and Nam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman may face defeat in the upcoming elections.
According to the survey by Agni News Services, DMK leader and current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has the most influence on the post of Chief Minister, while Edappadi Palaniswami has no such influence.
Agni News, while sharing region-wise forecast, has estimated that out of 58 seats in the southern region, the DMK alliance is leading on 42 seats, while the AIADMK alliance is leading on 16 seats.
Out of 37 seats in the Central region, the DMK alliance is leading on 35 seats and the AIADMK alliance is leading on 2 seats. Of the 50 seats in the western region, the DMK alliance is leading on 32 seats, while the AIADMK alliance is leading on 18 seats.
In the northern region, out of 52 constituencies, the DMK alliance is leading on 35 seats, while the AIADMK alliance is leading on 17 seats. In the Chennai region, out of 37 constituencies, the DMK alliance is ahead in 36 seats, while the AIADMK alliance is ahead in only 1 seat.
Speaking to journalists at the Chennai Press Club, Agni News Services CEO R. Suresh Kumar claimed that Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam members were living in an “imaginary world” and predicted that Vijay would lose in Perambur and finish second.
He also said that Nam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman would lose in Karaikudi.
He further said that women are satisfied with the DMK government and more than 60% women voters are expected to support DMK in this election. She claimed that the welfare schemes implemented by the DMK government for women have had a significant impact and 49% of women consider Tamil Nadu as a safe state.
She also claimed that the financial assistance of Rs 5,000 provided by the government has had a massive impact on women.
Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase on April 23 and counting of votes will take place on May 4. The current tenure of the 234-member state assembly ends on May 10.
The main electoral contest is between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which includes the Congress, DMDK and other parties, and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which has the BJP and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) as its allies.
