Chennai, February 7 (IANS). Actor and politician Vijay is all set to enter the electoral fray in Tamil Nadu through his party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK). In this series, the party invited applications from people willing to become candidates, on which tremendous response is being received.
If party sources are to be believed, Vijay is currently considering his options between two constituencies in Chennai, Velachery and Virugambakkam. Earlier he had also considered other areas like Vikravandi, Vedaranyam and Vedasandur, but considering the difficulties in campaigning in these places, he decided to change the strategy.
Leaders believe that by contesting elections from the capital city, Vijay will be able to easily manage his campaign and the party’s hold in urban areas will be strengthened.
TVK started distributing application forms for its membership drive and candidate selection process at Panayur headquarters. Nearly ten thousand forms were distributed in just 90 minutes. This number shows how much enthusiasm there is among the people to participate in the party under the leadership of Vijay. The process of form distribution will continue from 10 am to 6 pm every day till February 14.
However, due to huge crowd gathering, people living in Panayur are facing problems. Due to small and narrow streets, heavy traffic situation has arisen and vehicles are parked on both sides of the road, making it difficult to commute.
Local residents complain that domestic workers and emergency services are finding it difficult to function. On this, the local welfare association has appealed to the police to do better crowd management and traffic control.
He clarified that he is not against any political activity, but public events should not be at the detriment of the facilities of the locality.
