Surat, 22 September (IANS). Regarding the GST reform, the textile traders of Surat thanked PM Modi wholeheartedly and said that this time there will be good sales, due to which Deepawali is going to go very well.
Since Monday, new GST rates have been implemented across the country. The improvement in GST has raged a wave of happiness in the textile industry. Under the new slab rates, decreasing the GST rate on clothes from 12 percent to 5 percent will not only be cheap, but will also increase the purchase capacity of customers and small traders will also get a big benefit.
Traders of Surat’s garment sector are calling it a big gift of Deepawali, while customers are thanking the government for relief in inflation.
Expressing enthusiasm, Surat’s garment businessman Harsh Aggarwal said that the benefits from GST 2.0 reforms are very important. Earlier, GST was higher on clothes above 1000 rupees, causing customers to buy less. Now, due to low slab rate, customers will be able to buy more goods. Earlier customers who used to take the same product will now consider buying two products. This will increase our sales.
Another businessman Shivabhai Patel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a very good decision. Customers will benefit greatly by reducing GST rate. This Deepawali is going to be very good for us and for customers.
He told that the market will be stronger with cheap clothes.
Welcoming the GST cut, Dharmesh said that earlier clothes were expensive due to the higher GST rate. We are middle class people, earlier used to take a pair of clothes. Now only 5 percent GST will be charged on clothes, so that we will be able to buy more. We thank the government.
Many other customers have also described this relief as a big gift before Navratri and Deepawali.
