BJP leader Nitin Nabin on Tuesday formally took charge as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, outgoing BJP national president JP Nadda, several other BJP leaders and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.
Senior Indian politician Nabin has been a five-time member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and has also been a former minister in the Bihar government. He is widely known for his consistent organizational skills and administrative experience.
Born on May 23, 1980 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Nabin entered electoral politics at an early age and was first elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2006 from Patna West Assembly constituency. Since 2010, Nabeen has been continuously elected from the Bankipur assembly constituency, winning in 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025, thus becoming a five-time MLA.
He has also held the charge of important departments like Road Construction, Urban Development and Housing and Law as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Bihar.
Along with his legislative career, Nabin has played a key role in the party organization and has held leadership positions at the national and state levels. He has also been entrusted with important organizational responsibilities in states like Sikkim and Chhattisgarh.
It is noteworthy that a total of 37 nomination papers were received in favor of Nitin Nabin for the post of National President, which included proposals from top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K Laxman had also announced that after receiving 37 nomination papers in favor of Nitin Nabin, he has been proposed for the post of BJP national president. Finally today among the stalwarts, Nitin Nabin formally took charge as BJP President.
