**Clash between TMC and BJP workers during protest march**
Mamata Banerjee had organized a rally on Wednesday in Baruipur to protest against the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl. During this, a clash broke out between BJP and TMC workers, due to which the police had to intervene to reduce the growing tension between the two parties. Mamata Banerjee alleged that BJP supporters disrupted the rally and attacked Trinamool Congress workers at several places along the way. He said, “The High Court had given permission for our rally, yet BJP goons disrupted it. How can the police ignore the court order allowing the rally? BJP goons beat up our party workers. Is this democracy?”
**Mamata Banerjee accused the police**
Banerjee accused the police of not performing their duties impartially and claimed that the police force had essentially become “a branch of the BJP organisation”. He commented, “The police are incapable of providing security to the common people and are instead being used to disrupt our events.” The Trinamool Congress chief also alleged that he was being constantly monitored. He said, “I am being kept under police surveillance, as if I am under house arrest.”
