Washington, March 11 (IANS). US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that US attacks have caused huge damage to Iran’s military infrastructure and its navy and air defense system have been almost completely destroyed.
Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House, Trump said that during the current conflict, the US military has carried out unprecedented and highly effective attacks on Iranian military targets.
Trump said, “Our military is the best and most powerful in the world, and they are targeting them very hard. Right now their navy is destroyed, their airports are destroyed. They no longer have any anti-aircraft systems or radar left. Their leaders are also destroyed and we can do even more.”
He indicated that the US has not yet deliberately destroyed some targets, but that if it did so it would be almost impossible for Iran to rebuild its country.
Trump said, “We have left some things deliberately. If we want, we can eliminate them not only by this afternoon, but within an hour. After this they will not be able to rebuild their country.”
The US President also claimed that most of Iran’s naval capabilities had been destroyed during the operation. He said that almost all his ships had been destroyed.
Trump further said that the US military has destroyed Iran’s multi-layered defense system. “We have destroyed their navy, destroyed their air force and destroyed all their anti-defense systems. This has never been seen before,” he said.
When asked whether the US could halt military action if Iran’s conditions were not met, Trump indicated that the operation could continue for now. “We have caused them more harm than has ever been done to any country in history, and it is not over yet,” he said.
