New Delhi, July 21 (IANS). Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced to intensify its ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar and has accused the Central Government and Delhi Police of alleged misbehavior with the protesters.
Party’s national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, while talking to IANS, claimed that during the demonstration, the police lathi-charged the protesters and tried to suppress the peaceful movement by force.
He said that he had never expected such action before. They allege that the police were instructed to use force against the protesters.
Referring to the meeting held with the government, Ranka said that the talks lasted for about five hours, but no concrete solution was found. He said that if the government really wants to talk then it should come to the protest site and communicate with the protesters.
Ranka said that the main demand of the party is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said that until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns, the protests will continue at Jantar Mantar. He claims that instead of weakening the movement due to police action, it will become more widespread and more people than before will reach Delhi to join it.
He also alleged that the protest site was damaged and volunteers helping in conducting the movement were also assaulted.
Ranka said, “The protests will continue until our demands are met. We are constantly assessing the action of Delhi Police and the alleged violence. A large number of people wanted to reach Jantar Mantar to register a peaceful protest, but the police action has raised serious questions on the government’s attitude.”
