Mumbai, July 8 (IANS). Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC clarified the party’s stand on the attack on a doctor by a Shiv Sena corporator in Maharashtra. He said that any kind of violence against doctors will not be accepted and strict action should be taken against the culprits. At the same time, he termed the Pune accident as a warning for the future and stressed the need to strengthen structural safety arrangements on a large scale.
Regarding the attack on the doctor, Shaina NC said that doctors are frontline workers of the society and are busy day and night in serving the patients. In such a situation, scuffle or violent behavior with them cannot be tolerated at any cost. Shiv Sena has a clear opinion that there should be a self-examination on such incidents and the culprits should be given strictest punishment.
He said that Shiv Sena leader Dr. Shrikant Shinde himself is a doctor and party chief Eknath Shinde gives top priority to the respect of women. Schemes like ‘Ladki Behan’ of the state government also reflect the spirit of respect and empowerment of women. In such a situation, the party does not support any kind of violence. FIR has been registered in this matter. The dignity and respect of doctors is not a matter of any kind of compromise for Shiv Sena.
On the building collapse incident in Pune, Shaina NC said that this incident is not just an accident but a serious test of the safety system of the urban structure. All old and dilapidated buildings should be subjected to regular structural audits, timely repairs should be carried out and construction and repair works should be carried out only under the supervision of licensed engineers. Also, there is a need to ensure strict adherence to the rules of UDCPR 2020.
He said that helpline, control room, fire brigade and other emergency arrangements are available from the administration, but it is also the responsibility of the citizens to check the condition of their buildings. People should ensure that the building has the required permits and if the building is in a dilapidated condition, it should be repaired or necessary action should be taken in time.
Specially mentioning the old areas of Pune, Shaniwar Peth, Sadashiv Peth, Sunday Peth, Shayna NC said that many buildings in these areas are very old and have not been properly maintained for a long time. In many cases, repair work is affected due to disputes between landlords and tenants, while at some places cases of violation of building construction rules have also come to light. There is a need to look at all these aspects from a holistic perspective and find a long-term solution.
