Wangchuk is not ready to end his fast, says, 'Nothing will change if I eat food...'

The health of activist and scientist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the last 19 days as part of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) protest, is deteriorating day by day. Many videos of Sonam have gone viral on social media, in which she is looking much weaker and thinner than before. According to reports, due to the hunger strike his weight has reduced by about 9 kg. On Wednesday, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Delhi High Court demanding a forceful end to his hunger strike; The hearing of this case is to be held today, July 16.

**What will change if they eat the food?**

Ahead of the hearing in the Delhi High Court, Sonam Wangchuk addressed her supporters and asked what would change if they break their fast? Will the purpose of the movement be achieved by eating food? He appealed to the supporters to focus on the objectives and demands of the movement instead of worrying too much about his health. In a video message, Sonam said that her condition is not so serious that she may die in the next few days.

**CJP’s nationwide hunger strike**

Sonam told that the medical report has not revealed any major concern regarding his health and he can continue his fast for a few more days. Meanwhile, CJP has called for a one-day nationwide hunger strike on Thursday in support of Sonam. The party says that this campaign is being organized not only in support of Sonam Wangchuk, but also to draw the government’s attention towards student-related issues and various issues of public interest.

**Sonam admitted to muscle weakness**

In her video, Sonam Wangchuk said that ending the fast will send a message to the government that their movement lacks seriousness. However, he admitted that the muscles have become weak due to the long fast, but his heart and other vital organs of the body are functioning normally. He appealed to his supporters to join the proposed peaceful march to Parliament on July 20 instead of asking them to end their fast.
