'Well Dun Atika', CM Abdullah congratulated Jammu and Kashmir's first Formula 1 racing talent

Srinagar, 25 September (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday congratulated Atika Mir, the first formula 1 racing talent of the Union Territory. Atika recently finished fourth in the European Carting Championship held in Slovakia.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while wishing Atika, hoped that she would one day top the Formula 1 racing.

He wrote on the social media platform X, “Well Dun, Atika. His natural talent and passion towards racing is clearly visible. I hope that the day is not far when he will be the first Kashmiri to join the biggest competition of motor racing (Formula 1). Continue your good work, Atika, always.”

Atika Mir, a resident of Srinagar, is the first girl in India and Asia to be selected for the ‘Discover Your Drive’ program of Formula 1 Academy. Recently she finished fourth in the European Carting Championships in Slovakia to finish fourth in India and women’s category.

Atika’s father (former formula Asia driver Asif Nazir Mir) is his inspiration. Atika has been carting in UAE since the age of six. In 2022-23, she was a runner-up at the Mini R category at the UAE IAME National Carting Championships.

In 2025, he obtained podium finish in the IAME Summer Cup at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. In 2024, she became the first Indian woman driver to qualify for the final of the Rotax Euro Trophy in South Garda, Italy. The same year, he took France. Rotax Max Challenge in Mains created history by winning the race in the Micro Max category of International Trophy.

In 2025, Atika attended the WSK Carting Series at Italy’s Babres Driver Academy. In 2024 she was the only Asian driver selected for the Iron Dames Young Talent Program. She was selected in the ‘Discover Your Drive’ program of Formula 1 Academy in 2025 and AKCEL GP, Carting Team, who was associated with the UAE Formula 1 Academy, signed her.

Atika was born in Srinagar, and she moved to Dubai at a young age. He started racing electric carts as an hobby before going to professional carting. His father is supporting him in his career, and he supported him in Atika’s racing career.
