West Bengal, June 17 (IANS). BJP leader Hirak Bhattacharya lodged a police complaint against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra for allegedly making inflammatory statements. This complaint was lodged at Hogalbaria police station in Karimpur of Nadia district on Wednesday.
The complaint states that Mahua Moitra is continuously giving such statements which are hurting religious sentiments and trying to disturb the Hindu-Muslim harmony in the state.
A few days ago, many women leaders of BJP were standing outside Krishnanagar District Sessions Court with eggs and tomatoes. He said that Mahua Moitra may appear in the court in an old case and if she comes, eggs and tomatoes will be thrown at her.
After this, Mahua Moitra herself made two videos of her statement and posted them on Facebook.
In her first statement, she said that she would lodge a complaint in the police station against all the women who were standing ready to throw eggs in the court premises.
She warned that if the police did not take up her complaint, she would go to court, even the Supreme Court.
The next day she released another video and said that she would file an FIR with the names of all the women who were seen standing in the video.
He sarcastically said, “Instead of throwing eggs like this, if you throw eggs wearing a burqa, no one will be able to see you.” Then there will be no complaints.
This statement of the MP went viral on social media.
After this, the BJP leader filed a complaint against him for disturbing religious harmony between two communities and making inflammatory statements.
A senior police officer of Nadia district said that the police have received the complaint and the matter is being investigated.
