Kolkata, January 29 (IANS). Police on Thursday arrested three people in connection with the harassment case against actress and former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty. Police said the accused Tanay Shastri and his two associates were arrested after a clash at his residence. Let us tell you that the police is investigating the complaint of harassment of Mimi Chakraborty at a program organized in Bongaon in North 24 Parganas district.
Mimi Chakraborty is currently busy promoting her recently released film ‘Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel’. There has been no official reaction from their side on this development.
This incident happened on Sunday night. The actress, who had gone to an event in Nayagopalganj area of Bongaon, alleged that she was harassed on stage.
She said, “I was performing. Suddenly Tanay Shastri, the organizer of the event, came on stage and stopped me. He asked me to leave. Without saying anything, I left without finishing the entire performance. His behavior was very disrespectful.”
After this he lodged a written complaint in the local police station through email. The former MP also alleged that he was treated unfairly because he refused to be a guest at Shastri’s house, unlike other artistes. There has been a tense situation since Monday regarding this incident.
On the other hand, the organizer of the event claimed that these allegations are completely baseless and false. According to Shastri, the scheduled arrival time of Mimi Chakraborty was 10:30 pm, but she arrived late by about one and a half hour i.e. at 11:45 pm. He denied Mimi’s allegations and said that despite this she was given full respect and was taken to the stage.
However, when the police tried to investigate the case and went to Shastri’s house, he stopped the police from doing their work. After this he and his two companions were arrested.
