Sindhu: India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu is the first Indian female player to win two medals in Olympic history. She won a silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016. Apart from this, she continued her strong performance in the Tokyo Olympics and won a bronze medal. Now there are medal expectations from her in the Paris Olympics as well. If she wins a medal in the Paris Olympics, she will become the first Indian player to win 3 medals in the Olympics. So far no Indian player has been able to win three Olympic medals.

She has won silver and bronze medals in Olympics

In the Rio Olympics, PV Sindhu performed strongly against everyone’s expectations. She soon won by defeating Laura Sarosi 21-8, 21-9 in her first match. After this, her winning streak did not stop and she reached the final directly. Sindhu faced Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals. She played brilliantly in the semi-finals and Nozomi Okuhara could not stand before her. She won in straight sets 21-19, 21-10 and created history by reaching the final. In the final, Sindhu had to face a crushing defeat from Carolina Marin. She lost to Marin 19-21, 21-12, 21-15. Due to this, she had to be content with the silver medal. At the Tokyo Olympics, she defeated China’s He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 and won the bronze medal.

The target is to win a medal

PV Sindhu said that winning a medal is definitely my goal. It doesn’t matter if it is the first, second or third. I have won two medals and I don’t want to put pressure on myself by thinking about the third medal. Whenever I participate in the Olympics, it is a new Olympics for me. So whenever I play in the Olympics, my goal is to win a medal. Hopefully, I will complete the hat-trick soon.

PV Sindhu said that there is a lot of confidence in the strokes. Women’s singles now has very long rallies and long duration matches and I have prepared myself for them. She said that you have to adopt a different style against each opponent and it is necessary to play the right stroke at the right time. Prakash sir emphasized on this and we worked on it. There has been a lot of improvement. You will see this on the court.
