Bhopal Double Murder Case: Police has made a sensational revelation about Bhopal’s famous Aishbagh Double Murder Case. Police have arrested both the accused in this case. Both the pistols used in the murder have also been recovered. SIT was formed to investigate the murder of Shakuntala and Hemant Philemon. The police worked very strategically in the investigation of this murder and for the first time, using Artificial Intelligence, they confused the accused in such a way that they did not even run away from the city to escape from the eyes of the police.
Police released fake sketches from AI
According to the police, 70-year-old Hemant Philemon and his wife Shakuntala were murdered on June 24. During the investigation of this case, the police made a special strategy to catch the accused.
With the help of AI, the police prepared such sketches in which the faces of the real accused were tampered. After this these sketches were released. The police plan was to make the accused believe that the investigating agencies were moving in the wrong direction and the police had no information about their real faces.
This strategy of the police worked. The accused felt that the police was investigating in some other direction. For this reason, instead of running away from the city, they continued to live normally. During this period, the police kept a constant watch on their activities.
The main accused remained in the city
The biggest advantage that the police got after releasing the sketches prepared by AI was that the main accused Srikant was present in the city itself. The police kept an eye on his every activity and continuously gathered information about him.
The SIT formed to investigate the murder started unraveling the layers of the case by combining technical investigation and traditional police investigation. Gradually, the police started getting such evidence which cleared the direction of the entire murder case.
Evidence collected at 24 different points
The SIT collected evidence at 24 different points during the investigation. These included property dispute, alleged fake gift deed, information about bank accounts, mobile call detail record (CDR), mobile location, digital transaction, social media activities, CCTV footage, weapons and statements of witnesses.
By linking all these evidences together, the police prepared the complete sequence of the murder. The technical evidence found during the investigation helped the police the most in reaching the accused.
CDR changed the direction of investigation
According to the police, the call detail record changed the direction of the investigation of this murder. Investigation revealed that accused Srikant had talked to Shivani on phone more than 300 times.
At the same time, there was not a single call from Shrikant to the deceased Shakuntala. This technical evidence was very important for the police. On this basis, the police suspicion became stronger and the investigation moved forward.
The accused was the first to reach the mortuary
During investigation, the police also came to know that after the murder, Srikant was the first to reach the mortuary. After this he remained continuously active till the funeral.
The police also examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed in and around the incident site. The blue car seen in the footage also turned out to be that of Srikanth. After this, the police gathered many important technical and circumstantial evidence against the accused.
Both pistols used in the murder recovered
Police have also recovered the mobile phones of both the accused. Apart from this, both the pistols used in the murder have also been recovered.
According to the police, both the pistols were thrown into the big pond. They were recovered from the pond with the help of divers. After this, both the weapons have been sent to Sagar FSL for ballistic examination.
This dispute became the reason for murder
Police claim that the main reason behind this double murder was the dispute over getting the house in one’s name through an alleged fake gift deed.
During the interrogation that lasted for about six hours, when the police placed CDR, CCTV footage and other technical evidence in front of the accused, he got surrounded by police questions. After this, the accused, along with his brother Shashikant, confessed to killing Hemant Philemon and his wife Shakuntala on June 24.
The accused themselves got trapped in the trap.
The police used both technology and strategy in the investigation of this entire murder. By releasing AI-generated sketches of altered faces, the accused were assured that the police were investigating in the wrong direction.
Due to this confusion, the main accused remained present in the city and the police kept an eye on his activities. After this, SIT took the investigation forward by adding CDR, location, CCTV footage, digital transactions, weapons and statements of witnesses.
Eventually the police arrested both the accused and also recovered both the pistols used in the murder. In this way, both the accused themselves got trapped in the police strategy and ended up behind the bars.
