Mission to make eye care universally accessible

Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, which started as a 30-bed hospital in rural Bihar in 2005, has today become one of the leading ophthalmological institutions in the country. Till now, eyesight has been restored to more than 14 lakh people and lakhs of people have been examined.

The collaboration of Adani Group and Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital is in line with the objectives of the National Program for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment of the Government of India, which was initiated in 1976. Its aim is to develop a community model for affordable eye treatment and care that can be implemented across the country.

This initiative also takes forward the vision care program of Adani Foundation. Adani Foundation is completing 30 years in August 2026. Under the Vision Care Program program, which was started in 2024, so far about 1.93 lakh people have been examined and free spectacles have been provided to about 59,000 people. This work has been done in rural areas, schools and through referral support in 11 states.

Starting from rural areas of Bihar, this effort seeks to develop a model for underprivileged communities across the country in which healthcare, skill development and service move forward together. For Gautam Adani, this effort is not just an investment in the health sector, but the belief that this project started in the spirit of service will not only return vision but will also give respect, opportunity and hope.
