Andhra Pradesh News: Dr BR Ambedkar Six workers were killed and some others injured in a massive fire at a firecracker factory in Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the accident.
Deaths in factory due to fire and explosion
According to the police, a massive fire broke out in the Lakshmi Ganapathy Firecracker Factory located in Komaripalem village of Raivaram mandal in the afternoon. Due to this fire the factory shed collapsed and a massive explosion occurred. Due to the presence of chemical substances in the fire, fire fighters faced great difficulty in controlling it.

In this accident, six employees died on the spot, while eight others were injured. Two seriously injured persons were admitted to the hospital. Other injured employees have been sent to private hospitals. About 15 employees were working in the factory and it is believed that some other people may be buried under the debris.
After the incident, police and fire department officials reached the spot and started relief work. The explosion and fire caused panic in the surrounding area.
Possible cause: Ignoring safety standards
Officials believe that the accident occurred due to negligence of safety standards. Police have registered a case to investigate the incident and possible reasons are being investigated.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the accident and expressed his condolences to the deceased on social media. He said, “I am deeply saddened by the fire at Bana Sancha Manufacturing Center in Raivaram, Konaseema district. Many people have lost their lives in this accident and I am saddened by it.”
He further said, “I have discussed the situation with the officials and directed them to take appropriate steps for relief operations. We are providing better medical aid to the injured and stand with the affected families.”
