Jharkhand News: The security forces have achieved the biggest success so far under the Naxal eradication campaign in Jharkhand. A total of 27 Naxalites, including 25 Maoists active in Saranda and Kolhan areas for a long time and two militants of the banned organization JJMP, surrendered at the police headquarters in Ranchi on Thursday. This is believed to be the biggest mass surrender in a single day in the history of the state.

In a program organized in the presence of DGP Tadasha Mishra and senior police-CRPF officials, these Naxalites decided to give up their weapons and return to the mainstream. Among those who surrendered are eight hardcore Naxalites on whom the government had announced a reward of lakhs. These include six Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh, one Naxal worth Rs 2 lakh and a female Naxal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh.

According to the police, a total of 426 serious cases are registered against these surrendered militants in various police stations of the state. They are accused of murder, attack on police forces, levy collection, explosion and armed activities. During the surrender, the Naxalites also handed over a large quantity of arms and ammunition to the security forces. These include one LMG INSAS, four INSAS rifles, nine SLRs, one bolt action rifle, one pistol, 31 magazines, 2987 cartridges and eight walkie-talkies. Those who returned to the mainstream, influenced by the continuous operations of the security forces and the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Jharkhand government, include seven sub zonal commanders, seven area commanders and 13 active cadres of the CPI Maoist organization.

The prominent Naxalites who surrendered include the names of Gadi Munda alias Gulshan, Nagendra Munda alias Prabhat Munda, Rekha Munda alias Jayanti, Sagen Angaria alias Dokol and Suleman Hansda alias Suni Hansda. Sachin Beck of JJMP organization also laid down arms. Apart from these, many other militants including Darshan alias Binj Hansda, Karan Tiu alias Dangur, Basumati Jerai alias Basu, Baijnath Munda, Raghu Kayam alias Guna, Kishore Sirka alias Durga Sirka and Ram Dayal Munda have also returned to the mainstream.

The women cadres who surrendered include many names including Vandana alias Shanti, Sunita Sardar, Sapna alias Suru Kalundiya and Anisha Koda alias Rani. Police officials said that all the surrendered Naxalites will be provided financial assistance and rehabilitation facilities under the rehabilitation policy of the state government.

Apart from this, a fixed amount will also be given separately in lieu of depositing the weapons. In the surrender ceremony of Naxalites, IG Pankaj Kamboj, IG Prabhat Kumar, IG Sunil Bansal, IG Aseem Vikrant Minj, IG Anoop Birthare, IG Mayur Patel Kanhaiyalal, DIG, Inderjit Mahatha, DIG Manoj Ratan Chauthe, DIG Karthik S, Shailendra Varnwal, SSP Rakesh Ranjan, SP Harish Bin Jama, SP Many officials including Saurabh were present.
