Bhopal, May 15 (IANS). Days after a 34-year-old woman’s suicide in Bhopal, police registered a case against her husband and mother-in-law on dowry and other related charges. Assistant Police Commissioner Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul on Friday confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against Giribala Singh and his son Samarth Singh at Katara Hills police station late Thursday night. The case has been registered under various sections including dowry death and dowry harassment. Giribala Singh February She retired from the post of Bhopal District Judge in 2023.

His son Samarth Singh practices law in the District Court. ACP Kaul said that police teams are raiding the residence and other possible hideouts of the accused. However, both have not been arrested yet. The action was taken after continuous protests by the family of Twisha Sharma, who died on Tuesday. Twisha, a native of Noida, was found hanging from a pipe on the terrace of her house in Bagh Mughalia Extension, Laharpur on Tuesday night.

According to the police, her husband immediately took her to AIIMS hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Twisha had married Samarth Singh six months ago on December 12, 2025. Both of them met on a dating app. Twisha was an MBA degree holder and was working in a Delhi company for many years. Her family has accused her of murder and destruction of evidence. They claim that Samarth and his mother fabricated the suicide story to mislead the investigators. Hatwisha’s family and relatives have been protesting outside the Katara Hills police station for the last two days and demanding action against Giribala Singh and his son.

On Thursday, family members, relatives and acquaintances gathered outside the women’s police station with placards and demanded immediate action. They also created a ruckus in the commissioner’s office. Twisha’s brother Harshit Sharma said that the police was avoiding taking action due to the influence and dominance of the two.
