Bihar Elections 2025: Electoral season has risen in Bihar and this time the political battle is not limited to rallies and streets only. Now its battlefield has become social media. Dozens of informal Facebook and Instagram pages, which are not directly connected to any political party, are acting like a ‘proxy campaign machinery’ for them. These page AI-generated videos, reels and posts are telling the achievements of their leaders, while targeting the opponents. This digital warfare is not only giving a new dimension to the elections, but also challenging the methods of traditional publicity.
AI floods of videos: trying to change the neorating
This time the election campaign is different from the previous elections. While earlier online campaigns were often openly individual attacks, this time there is more emphasis on micro messaging. More than 30 serogat or informal pages are active on the meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram), which are using AI-generated content to pursue their neorating. These pages are trying to create an atmosphere in their side, rather than defaming someone directly.
NDA vs India Block: Battle of Digital Domination
There are nine active Facebook and Instagram pages in support of the NDA, who have more than 1.2 million followers in total. These pages reflect the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government. A page like ‘Bihar Live’ compares Nitish Kumar’s good governance to ‘Jungle Raj’ of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s reign. At the same time, page ‘double engine’ like ‘Bol Bihar Bol’ attacks the opposition by calling the government strong.
On the other hand, the opposition India block looks more aggressive online. Through 18 serogate pages, they are targeting the Nitish government and promoting the RJD and Congress campaign. Pages like ‘Voice of Bihar Rahul Gandhi’ attack BJP’s policies, while RJD pages are presenting Tejashwi Yadav as ‘Youth Icon’. These pages show Tejashwi cooperating with influential people and making dance reels, which is a new strategy to attract youth.
Digital War Room: New Election New face
This digital war shows that Bihar elections are no longer limited to rallies or TV debates. They are being fought reel rate reel, share rate share and follower rate followers. Both alliances are converting social media ecosystem into their ‘Proxy War Room’, where they are secretly pushing their agenda forward.
This trend suggests that digital propaganda may dominate traditional propaganda mediums in the coming times. It is not only giving a new platform to political parties, but also opening new avenues to reach voters. However, the increasing number of these informal pages and the use of AI-birthted material also question whether this digital propagation will meet the norms of transparency and fairness. This will only tell what will be the result of this digital war.
