Bihar News: Bihar government has taken a big and relief decision for the farmers and land owners of the state. By making changes in the land policies related to Greenfield satellite township projects, the government has decided to make the process of land purchase, sale and compensation easier and more beneficial. This step will not only benefit the farmers economically, but is also expected to give a new impetus to urban development and investment in the state.
This important decision was taken in the recent meeting of the State Council of Ministers, under which the land acquisition and purchase process will now become more transparent and simpler than before.
Land owners will get big benefits
Urban Development and Housing Department Minister Nitish Mishra informed that farmers and land owners were facing a lot of difficulties due to many obstacles in the purchase and sale of land in greenfield satellite township areas.
Keeping these problems in mind, the government has decided to provide relief under the new land policy. Now land owners will be able to sell the land as per their need and will also get a fair price.
Compensation will be up to 4 times
According to the government’s new Bihar Ryoti Land Purchase Policy, 2026, farmers will now get more compensation than before –
– In urban areas, compensation for land will be given twice the market value or circle rate (MVR), whichever is higher.
– In rural areas, land compensation will be given up to four times the market value or circle rate (MVR).
Apart from this, 10% additional incentive amount will also be given on the total amount.
The government claims that with this decision, farmers and land owners will be able to get real and fair price for their land.
Who will be able to buy the land?
The process of purchasing land has also been clarified under the new policy. According to:
– Bihar State Housing Board has been given permission to purchase land.
– Concerned agencies will be able to take land for state and central government projects.
– Investors approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) will be able to directly purchase or lease land.
This arrangement is expected to open the way for big investments and industrial projects.
Decision taking into account the needs of farmers
The government has also made it clear that if a farmer needs to sell his land for financial or personal reasons, he will be able to do so easily. Bihar State Housing Board will be authorized to purchase such land, so that farmers can get immediate financial assistance.
How will the price of land be decided?
The responsibility has been given to the District Level Raiati Land Purchase Committee to maintain transparency in determining the price of land. This committee will decide the correct price of the land on the basis of market price and circle rate, which will reduce the possibility of any kind of dispute.
Bihar’s urban map will change with 11 new townships
The government has already approved plans to develop a total of 11 greenfield satellite townships in the state. The objective of these townships is to accommodate the rapidly increasing urbanization and develop new urban centers equipped with modern amenities.
This scheme was given final approval in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 22 April 2026. The government believes that this project will give a new direction to employment, investment and infrastructure development in Bihar.
Let us tell you, this decision of Bihar government is being seen as a big relief for farmers and land owners. While on one hand they will get better value of land, on the other hand development projects and investment in the state will also gain momentum. In the coming time, this scheme can play a very important role in the economic and urban development of Bihar.
