Politics intensified on ‘vote cut’ process: 65 lakh names were cut

Before this SIR process, there was a big process of cutting the name in the voter list of Bihar, which was fiercely discussed in the political corridors.

Initial figures: Before the SIR process started, there were a total of 7 crore 89 lakh 69 thousand 844 voters in Bihar.

high cut: In the format voter list released on 1 August, this number had come down to 7 crore 24 lakh 5 thousand 756, which meant that the names of 65 lakh 63 thousand people were cut in the initial process.

After this major cut, questions were raised in political circles whether so many people were ‘duplicate’ or ‘dead’. However, after the release of the format list, the Election Commission gave notice to 3 lakh people. During this time 2.17 lakh people applied for the name cut, while 16.93 lakh people applied to add the name, which makes it clear that the names of many eligible people were also out of the list.

More than 16 lakh applications came to add name

Claim-objection: In the process which lasted from 1 August to 1 September, 16 lakh 56 thousand 886 people applied to add a new name to the Form-6. Apart from this, 36 thousand 475 applied for adding names and 2 lakh 17 thousand 49 to remove the name.

Further process: The new applications from 1 September to 30 September have not yet been executed, whose execution will start from October 1 after the SIR process is over. Now Aadhaar has also been validated to get the name added.

The release of the final voter list is a decisive step for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, after which all political parties will now finalize their election strategy based on these new equations.
