Gariaband, June 7 (IANS). Central Government’s ambitious PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is bringing positive changes in the lives of people in rural areas. Hemant Dhruv, resident of village Kumharmara in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh, is also included among the beneficiaries of this scheme. He says that after installing the solar system on the roof of his house under the scheme, he has got complete relief from the worry of paying the electricity bill every month. Earlier, he had to pay two to three thousand rupees every month, but now his electricity bill has become zero.
Hemant Dhruv told IANS that he has installed a 3 kilowatt capacity rooftop solar system on the roof of his house under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The system was installed in January and has been in operation for about six months. During this period he did not have to deposit any amount as electricity bill. Due to this, there has been a significant reduction in the monthly expenses of his family and financial savings have also increased.
He said that earlier paying the electricity bill every month was a big problem. Paying electricity bills amidst household needs as well as farming and other expenses became an additional burden. But now this problem has been completely eliminated with the use of solar energy. According to him, the biggest advantage of the scheme is that along with sufficient power being available for the household needs, there is also the possibility of additional power generation.
The beneficiary told that if the electricity generated from the solar system is not fully utilized, the remaining electricity is sent to the grid. In return, payment is also made by the electricity department as per the prescribed procedure. He said that this has not only eliminated the electricity bill but has also created the possibility of earning additional income in future. For this reason, this scheme is proving to be of double benefit to the common people.
Hemant Dhruv also appreciated the subsidy being given by the government. He told that under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the government is providing subsidy of up to Rs 1.08 lakh, which reduces the cost of installing solar system significantly. He believes that more and more people should take advantage of this scheme, because it reduces the expenditure on electricity and also contributes to environmental protection.
