Raipur News: The Chhattisgarh government created a stir in the police department by making a major administrative change late on Friday evening. The Home Department has issued transfer orders of 7 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including Senior Superintendents of Police (SP) of four major districts, with immediate effect. This reshuffle is being seen as an effort to further strengthen the administrative structure of the state.
Responsibilities of SP and Headquarters
In this change made at the administrative level, some officers have been promoted and sent to the headquarters:
Mohit Garg has been removed from the post of SP of Rajnandgaon and has been promoted and given the responsibility of DIG Police Headquarters (PHQ). Chandramohan Singh, who was the SP of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, has been removed and appointed as the director of fire brigade and city army.
Districts get new heads
In this reshuffle, four important districts have got new Superintendents of Police, who will enforce law and order and new administrative strategies:
Ankita Sharma, who was the SP of Sakti district, has now been given the command of an important district like Rajnandgaon. Ratna Singh has been appointed as the new SP of the new district Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur. Prafulla Thakur will now take charge of Sakti district. Pankaj Chandra has been made the new SP of Kondagaon district, which is considered Naxal affected.
In its order, the Home Department has instructed all the officers to immediately assume their new posts and send this information compulsorily to the Home Department. It is clear from this major reshuffle that the state government is showing active efforts towards making policing in the districts better and more accountable.
