Chhattisgarh: After a long wait, monsoon has once again become active in Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of thunderstorms, strong winds and widespread rain for the next seven days in all the districts of the state. After recording about 65 percent less rainfall than normal in the month of June, now the beginning of July has brought relief. Continuous rainfall is expected to provide great relief to agriculture, reservoirs and areas facing drinking water crisis.
Rainfall across the state
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the activation of the monsoon system, there is a possibility of good rain in northern, central and southern parts of Chhattisgarh. There may be moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in many districts, while there are chances of heavy rain at some places. Meteorologists say that monsoon activities will continue for the next one week, due to which most of the districts may receive daily rainfall.
Farming affected by 65% less rain in June
Due to lack of expected rainfall in June this year, preparations for Kharif crops including sowing of paddy were affected. In many districts, fields remained dry and farmers had to spend extra on irrigation. Due to less rain, the water level of reservoirs and ponds also reached below normal. Now farmers are expected to get relief from the possibility of good rains in July. Agricultural experts believe that if there is adequate rainfall on time, sowing of Kharif crops will be expedited and the impact on production can be reduced to a great extent.
Advice to be cautious about lightning and waterlogging
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be cautious in view of the possibility of thunder, lightning and lightning during the rains. It has been advised to avoid going near open fields, trees and electric poles during bad weather. At the same time, due to continuous rain, a situation of waterlogging in urban areas and waterlogging in low-lying areas can also arise. The administration has instructed the local bodies to make necessary preparations.
Expectation of better rain in July
According to weather experts, due to active monsoon in July, the state may record normal or better than normal rainfall. If this trend continues, the lack of rain in June can be compensated to a great extent, which will benefit agriculture, drinking water and the environment.
