Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the ‘Sansad Sports Festival’ on Monday at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tapovan. The Chief Minister said that the “Sansad Khel Mahotsav”, being organized across the country with the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is a big campaign to take sports talents from village to national level. The sports festival is being organized in three different phases in Uttarakhand. The objective of this competition is to spread the message of “Fit India-Sports India-Strong India” to every village and also to promote local, traditional and folk sports.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, India is reaching new heights in the field of sports and is creating its own unique identity on the global stage. The state government is also making continuous efforts to promote sports culture in the state. In the 38th National Games held in the state, players from Uttarakhand created history by winning 103 medals and brought pride to the state. Today, Uttarakhand is also counted among the major states of the country in terms of world-class sports infrastructure. Under the “Sports Legacy Plan”, 23 sports academies will be established in eight major cities of the state. Every year 920 world class athletes and 1000 other players will be able to receive high level training in these academies.
The Chief Minister said that work is also being done at a rapid pace towards establishing the first sports university of Uttarakhand in Haldwani and a women’s sports college in Lohaghat. A new sports policy has also been implemented with the aim of overall development of sports in the state and to encourage players. “Out of turn” government jobs are being provided to medal winning players at national and international level. The emerging young players of the state are being encouraged through programs like Chief Minister Sports Development Fund, Chief Minister Players Incentive Scheme, Chief Minister Budding Players Scheme and Sports Kit Scheme.
The Chief Minister said that the merit of the players is also being honored by giving them Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award and Himalaya Khel Ratna Award. 4 percent sports quota for players in government services has been re-implemented, so that the hard work and skills of our players can get proper opportunity and respect.
Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal said that the country is moving rapidly towards fulfilling the resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a developed India by 2047. Many programs like Sansad Sports Competition, Fit India are being organized to highlight the talents of children. Today India is performing commendably in sports at the global level. On this occasion, he said that he will donate funds from his MP fund for volleyball and badminton courts in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tapovan. He also talked about donating funds from his MP fund for the arrangement of furniture in the school mess. On this occasion, MLA Mr. Umesh Sharma Kau, Mr. Khazandas, Mayor Dehradun Mr. Saurabh Thapliyal, CDO Dehradun Mr. Abhinav Shah and other dignitaries were present.
