At present, various districts of Chhattisgarh are experiencing deadly heat. Rajnandgaon recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius while Ambikapur recorded the minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius. There are chances of heat wave in Raipur and the maximum temperature is likely to go above 45 degrees Celsius.
More deaths of bats
There have also been reports of death of animals and birds due to extreme heat. 15 to 20 wildlife and birds including peacock, peahen, Asian palm civet have been found dead in Dallikholi-Lachhna forest of Khairagarh district of Chhattisgarh. At the same time, information about the death of about 500 bats due to heat wave has come to light in Sarona village of Kanker district. Earlier, around 200 bats were also found dead in Pali area of Korba district.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Khairagarh Forest Division, Pankaj Rajput has expressed apprehension that these wildlife have died due to extreme heat and heat wave. Post mortem of all the dead wildlife has been done. Only after the report comes, the real reason for the death of these voiceless people will be revealed. However, at the initial stage, there is a possibility of some poisonous substance being found in the water source.

The wildlife found dead included a male peacock, two peahens, three Asian palm civets, a greater racket-tailed drongo, a rufous treepie, an Oriental magpie robin, a jungle owlet, among other birds. The forest department has become alert after the death of a large number of wildlife at one place.
