Dehradun Vikasnagar Violence: The situation remains tense after a violent clash between two communities in Bairagiwala village located in Vikasnagar area of Uttarakhand. A young man died in this incident, while three people including a woman were injured. After the incident, anger spread across the area and a large number of local people and workers of various organizations came out on the streets. After the death of the youth, the demand for arrest of the accused and strict action against them has intensified. In view of the situation, the administration and police have tightened security arrangements.
Horrible scene of violence revealed in CCTV footage
A CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, in which the entire incident during the clash is visible. In the video, many people are seen running on the streets with sticks and attacking each other. The footage shows an atmosphere of chaos in the streets of the village. Some people are seen running to save their lives, while women and children are seen moving towards safe places. After the video surfaced, the police have made it an important part of the investigation.
The matter started due to water dispute
According to preliminary investigation by the police, the dispute started over watering the fields. Initially there was an altercation between the two parties, but the matter soon turned into a violent conflict. According to local people, the clash escalated so rapidly that panic spread throughout the village. Many people tried to protect themselves in their homes, while some moved away from the scene. After the news of the youth’s death spread, a large number of people gathered to protest. Angry protesters blocked the National Highway demanding the arrest of the accused. During the protest that lasted for several hours, people demanded immediate action from the administration. Additional police forces were deployed to control the situation and security was increased in the entire area.
Fire in accused’s house, internet service shut down
Amidst the tension, some protesters attacked the accused’s house and set it on fire. After this incident which happened in the presence of police, the administration became more alert. To keep the situation under control and stop rumours, the administration has temporarily shut down internet services in the area. Officials say that maintaining peace and order is their priority. Police said that the accused are being identified on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects and it is being claimed that soon all the accused will be brought under the ambit of law. Meanwhile, the local MLA also reached the hospital and met the relatives of the injured and the deceased and directed the administration to ensure fair and strict action.
There is still tension in the village
Even after several hours of the incident, the atmosphere of Bairagiwala village has not become completely normal. On one hand the family of the deceased is demanding justice, while on the other hand the people of the village are horrified after seeing the scenes of violence captured in CCTV. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation and is appealing to the people to maintain peace.
