A very painful accident in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on the day of Dussehra turned the atmosphere of happiness into mourning. A tractor-trolley filled with villagers returning from the idol immersion fell into the Abna River, killing 10 people. At the same time, many people are still missing, whose rescue operation is going on for searching.
This incident is from Aradala Kalan village of Pandhana police station area. After the conclusion of Navratri, on Thursday, the rural Devi went to the Abna River near Jamali to immerse the idols. While returning, when the tractor-trolley was crossing the culvert, it fell directly into the river due to deteriorating balance. It is being told that there were about 20 to 22 people in the trolley. As soon as the trolley fell into the river, there was a scream on the spot. Since it was a day of immersion, there was a huge crowd at the ghat. People around immediately ran for help and succeeded in taking out some people. As soon as the information was received, the police and administrative teams reached the spot and the rescue operation was started. So far 10 bodies have been recovered, most of which are reported to be children. Since the accident, there has been mourning in the area and a large number of villagers have gathered along the river. Family members of missing people are also present at the scene, who are in a bad state.
The SDRF team is conducting a search operation in the river. At the same time, the local administration has assured all possible help to the families of the victims. This sad incident is not only a warning for the administration, but also raises serious questions about such congestion and security standards in religious events.
