Medininagar May 10 (IANS). A former Maoist commander was brutally murdered in Palamu district of Jharkhand. Police had recovered a body from Belhara area of Pandu police station area on Saturday, which was identified on Sunday as that of notorious former Naxalite Jagnarayan Yadav alias Vishal Yadav. At one time, the Jharkhand government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on Vishal Yadav. According to the information received, Vishal Yadav was originally a resident of Gurdi village located in Chhatarpur, Palamu. He had gone to attend a marriage ceremony of one of his relatives in Pandu area.
There was a sensation after his body was found on Saturday, but due to his mutilated face, it could not be immediately identified. Later, after photographs were circulated on social media, his family members identified him. Looking at the condition of the body, the police suspect that he was murdered in a very brutal manner by stoning. Pandu police station in-charge Bigesh Kumar Rai has confirmed that Jayanarayan has an old Naxalite history. He was active in the post of commander in the Maoist organization during the year 2015-16 and cases of many serious Naxalite incidents were registered against him.
After his arrest, he remained in jail for a long time and after his release from there, he returned to the mainstream and was living a normal life. According to the police, after the official identification of the body, the family members are reaching the police station. Based on the written application and statement of the family members, the police will take advance legal action. At present, the police is investigating whether this murder is the result of old enmity or some organized gang is involved behind it.
