Garhwa Saraswati River Cleaning Campaign: Public and Officials Unite to Save River in Jharkhand | Jharkhand News: Joint campaign of public and administration to save Saraswatia river in Garhwa. News Track in Hindi

Ranchi, May 30 (IANS). The hard work of a young man to save the existence of a river in Garhwa district of Jharkhand paid off. Now the officers and the public have joined together and started a campaign named ‘Apan Saraswatiya’. On the second day of the ‘Apan Saraswatiya’ campaign, which was started with collective cooperation on the initiative of Garhwa Sadar SDM Sanjay Kumar, the work of cleaning and de-silting continued in different areas of the river. On the second day, the river was cleaned with the help of three machines (two JCB, one Poklane).

This campaign of the second day was run with the help of Shivalaya Construction Company, Municipal Council and Kundan Yadav, proprietor of ‘Signature Water’ and other social partners. Two JCBs were provided by the Municipal Council. Besides, two city managers and sanitation supervisors also remained actively involved in the campaign. Whereas the availability of diesel was from businessman Kundan Yadav. DC said that the basic feeling behind naming ‘Apan Saraswatiya’ is that every citizen of Garhwa city should feel that this river is our own heritage and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to save it.

He also appealed to other social service organizations and capable people of the city to cooperate in the campaign and said that this is a public campaign being run with socio-administrative participation. In such a situation, different sponsors should come forward every day. Those who can provide JCB for a day, bear the diesel cost of the machine or want to provide other resources can come forward voluntarily. He said that many people are joining the campaign on their own motivation and if public support continues, then this campaign will continue till the complete cleaning of Saraswatiya River.

SDM Sanjay Kumar said that not only will punishment be imposed on those who deliberately dump garbage in the Saraswatiya river, fill the river with soil or pour building material, but the expense of removing the said garbage will also be charged from them. For this, the city council is also being instructed to put up warning boards at various places.
