Haryana DGP news: An incident has happened on the streets of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, which has created a stir from social media to the police headquarters. A video of Dinesh Kumar, ACP Traffic here, went viral, in which he is seen driving away street vendors sitting on the roadside with a bulldozer and removing their vegetable and toy shops. After this video surfaced, the uproar became so intense that finally the state DGP OP Singh himself had to come forward to give clarification. ACP Dinesh Kumar, who is himself an international boxer and has been recruited in the police through sports quota, has come under attack on social media, terming his action as ‘oppression on the poor’. This incident has once again raised serious questions on the ‘method’ of the police in the name of removing encroachment.
DGP’s ‘poetry’ defence: ‘The intention is right, the method is wrong’
Seeing the growing controversy, Haryana DGP OP Singh defended ACP Dinesh by posting on social media. He said that he has spoken to DCP Bahadurgarh and CP Jhajjar on this matter. The DGP said, “ACP Dinesh is an international boxer. He has won dozens of medals and got recruited in the police through sports quota. He had the task of keeping every road a road, so he started removing encroachments with whatever he got. When bulldozers ran over vegetable baskets, a story was bound to be made.” However, the DGP admitted that field officers need training to work with caution. He directed the CP to provide training to field officers working ‘in an environment full of cameras’ to be alert. DGP OP Singh ended his defense with a poem that reflected the sensitivity of the case: “Mukhtsar si zindagi ke ajeeb se afsan hai, yahan teer bhi paalne hai aur parinde bhi bachane hai.”
DCP admits mistake: ‘Be cautious in future’
As the matter heated up, Jhajjar DCP Mayank Mishra also reacted to the viral video. The DCP clearly said that the intention of the police was right, that is, it was necessary to remove the encroachment, but the method adopted was wrong. The DGP also informed that ACP Dinesh has been asked to remain alert in the future so that no such incident occurs again and the humanitarian approach is also kept in mind. This action was taken on 200 feet road in Patel Nagar of Bahadurgarh.
ACP himself had shared the ‘controversial’ video
The most shocking thing is that this video of bulldozer action was shared by ACP Dinesh himself on social media. In this video, he was seen removing street vendors from the roadside. As soon as the video went viral, there was an uproar on social media. People strongly criticized this action of Haryana Police, terming it as atrocities on the poor. The Congress party also seized this issue and gave it a political colour. After the controversy escalated, ACP Dinesh removed his video, but by then millions of people had watched and shared it. This incident has once again highlighted the need to consider human values and the methods adopted by the police and administration while removing encroachments.
