Jabalpur, May 29 (IANS). There was chaos in Gadheri village near Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, when a suspected 12 kg mortar bomb was found during excavation. This incident happened on the plot of Sunil Yadav, where work was going on for the construction of a house. According to the information, on Friday evening at around 5.30 pm, while digging the pit for the column, the workers saw a heavy iron-like object about four feet deep, which looked like an old bomb. Initially the villagers did not understand what it was, but when looked carefully, an explosive-like structure was seen in it. After this people immediately stopped the work and informed the police. Within a short time the police team and bomb disposal squad reached the spot.

After investigation on the spot, it was confirmed that it could be a 12 kg mortar bomb. After this, the entire area was cordoned off and people were advised to stay away from there. Giving information about this matter, police station in-charge Rajkumar Khatik said that in Gadheri village, digging for pillars was being done by the laborers for the construction of a building on the plot of a person named Sunil Yadav. During this time a bomb was found, which is said to be alive. However, it has not been defused yet. It will be diffused on Saturday.

He told that it is not yet clear how old this bomb is and how it reached here. He said that in the initial investigation it appears to be an old mortar bomb of military use, but it will be confirmed only by the expert team. The police have also informed the army and senior officials about this. The process of safely disarming the bomb will be done under the supervision of the bomb squad and the army. At present no one has been allowed to go near the spot.
