Vishwakarma is currently the Minister of State for Cooperation, Salt Industry, MSME, Cottage, Khadi and Rural Industries in the Gujarat government. He has been a three -time MLA from Nicole seat in Ahmedabad.

In political corridors, Jagdish Vishwakarma is considered close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Prior to this, he has been the president of BJP’s Ahmedabad city unit.
