Jharkhand High Court: Dhanbad SSP Appears in Court Over Viral Video Case. Jharkhand News: Jharkhand High Court: Dhanbad SSP present in viral video case, court expressed concern. News Track in Hindi

Ranchi, May 11 (IANS). During the hearing of a criminal appeal in the Jharkhand High Court on Monday, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Dhanbad appeared physically on the orders of the court. The SSP told the court that an FIR has been registered on the basis of the victim’s complaint. The bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Sanjay Prasad, after hearing the SSP’s side, exempted him from personal appearance in future. The next hearing will be held on June 11.

During the hearing, the court expressed deep concern over the case of a girl’s video going viral. Information came before the court that the said video had gone viral from another state, Gujarat, instead of Jharkhand. Commenting harshly on this, the court said that the police should have made effective efforts to immediately remove or delete this viral video from the digital platform.

The court has directed the Dhanbad SSP to expedite the investigation of this case and file a detailed status report in the court during the next hearing. Actually, this entire case is related to an accused named Ravi Sao, who had earlier got bail from the High Court. After being released on bail, the victim had filed a petition to cancel the bail of the accused. The victim alleges that after coming out of jail, the accused again carried out illegal activities and tortured her mentally by making her video viral. The victim had given a written complaint in this regard to the cyber police.

In the earlier hearing, the court had expressed strong objection as to why the Dhanbad police did not register an FIR despite the complaint clearly disclosing a cognizable offence. To seek answers on this negligence, the court had ordered the SSP to appear personally. During the hearing held on Monday, advocate Shailesh Kumar Singh presented his side on behalf of the appellant.
