Khunti, May 27 (IANS). Police has solved the mystery of the murder of a loving couple who had gone to watch the Chhau dance fair in Saiko police station area of Khunti district of Jharkhand. According to the police, this double murder was carried out due to mutual rivalry and suspicion. Apart from the main accused in the case, Sumber Singh Manki, Gomeya Soy and Budhram Soy, who helped in hiding the body, have been arrested and sent to jail.

Khunti SP said in a press conference on Wednesday that at the behest of the accused, the anklet used in the murder, blood stained soil, clothes and slippers have also been recovered. Police investigation revealed that Sumber Singh Manki was married some time ago. After marriage, he had gone to another state for work.

Before leaving, he had entrusted the responsibility of taking care of his wife to his close friend Vishu Pahan. During this time, his wife became friends with another young man. When Sumber returned, he came to know about this. According to the police, he was more angry with his friend Vishu Pahan than with his wife. He suspected that Vishu broke his trust and did not inform him about it. He was harboring a feeling of revenge regarding this matter.

According to the police, on the night of May 17, a Chhau dance program was going on in Saiko. Vishu Pahan had come to see the fair with his ex-girlfriend Sumi Mundu. Meanwhile, Sumber attacked Vishu with a tang at some distance from the fair venue. When Sumi Mundu tried to intervene, the accused attacked her too. Both of them died on the spot in the attack.

After committing the murder, accused Sumber Singh Manki called two of his friends from the village, Gomeya Soy and Budhram Soy, to the spot to destroy the evidence. Together, the three hid their bodies in the inaccessible bushes of Marangburu mountain and fled away. The police recovered the bodies the next day. Considering the seriousness of the case, a special investigation team was formed. On the basis of technical evidence and secret information, the police arrested the three accused.
