The state government and administration seem to be active on various fronts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms for many districts.
Campaign to administer polio medicine to more than 61 lakh children started
A three-day pulse polio campaign has started in Jharkhand. Under this campaign, a target has been set to administer anti-polio medicine to about 61 lakh children across the state. The Health Department has set up special booths in all the districts and medicines will be administered to children by going door-to-door. Officials have appealed to the parents to ensure that all children between 0 to 5 years of age are given polio vaccine.
Orange alert of heavy rain in 20 districts including Ranchi
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued orange alert for the next 48 hours in 20 districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad. There is a possibility of heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in many areas. People have been appealed to avoid unnecessary travel and follow weather advisories.
Administration issued alert
In view of the constantly changing weather, the district administration and disaster management department have been put on alert mode. People living in low-lying areas with waterlogging and on the banks of rivers and streams have been advised to be cautious.
