Jharkhand News: All government and government-aided schools of Jharkhand will be specially opened on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Jharkhand Education Project Council has issued orders in this regard and sent instructions to the District Education Officer and District Education Superintendent of all the districts.
As per the order, special yoga programs will be organized in schools under the International Yoga Day celebrated on June 21. Generally there is a holiday in schools on the third Saturday and Sunday, but this time in view of the special situation, schools have been ordered to remain open from 7 am to 9 am on both Saturday and Sunday.
During this period, presence of all teachers and non-teaching staff will be mandatory. However, mid day meal will not be operated during this period. The Education Department has also clarified that all schools will have to compulsorily send reports of activities related to Yoga Day to Jharkhand Education Project.
After this order, mixed reactions are being seen among the teachers. State Patron of Jharkhand Plus Two Teachers Association, Sunil Kumar, while reacting to this decision, said that teachers should be given compensatory leave instead of doing extra work during holidays. He has demanded the government to reconsider this.
It is noteworthy that even before this, instructions have been issued by the Education Department to organize special programs in schools on Yoga Day. The aim of the government is said to be to increase awareness about yoga among students and encourage healthy lifestyle.
At present, after this order of the Education Department, preparations have been started in all the districts and school administrations have been instructed to organize yoga programs on time.
