Madhya Pradesh News: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, during the review meeting of the activities of the Cooperative Department in the Ministry on Thursday, directed that the membership campaign to add new members to the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) should be conducted till June 30. He said that through this campaign which started from April 14, 10 lakh new members should be added to PACS. Also, a target should be set to approve 1.25 lakh new Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) every year.
In the meeting, Cooperative Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Principal Secretary D.P. Ahuja was present. Appreciating the strengthening of District Cooperative Central Banks, the Chief Minister said that all the weak District Cooperative Central Banks should be strengthened in the next three years. It was informed in the meeting that in the last two and a half years, the financial condition of 6 out of 18 weak district banks has improved. Efforts are being made to strengthen Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Gwalior and Datia district banks through government share capital assistance. In the next phase, Bhind, Morena, Raisen, Sagar, Sidhi and Narmadapuram district banks will be strengthened.
The Chief Minister also directed to intensify efforts to conduct the transaction process in PACS through mobile app. On this, officials said that all 4,536 PACS of the state have been computerized under the Centrally Sponsored Computerization Scheme. Due to 100% computerization, Madhya Pradesh is leading in the country in scheme implementation. Soon the facility of transaction through mobile app will also be started.
It was informed in the meeting that 14 lakh quintals of certified seeds were produced and marketed in the last two years through seed producing cooperative institutions. Also, 1,102 new milk societies were formed, taking the total number of milk societies to 5,562. Under financial inclusion, accounts of 76 thousand members have been opened in district cooperative banks.
During this, information was also given about efforts for recruitment and institutional capacity building on a large scale. Officials said that partnership and business has been done with three newly formed cooperative societies at the national level. The State Cooperative Seed Association has signed an MoU with Bharatiya Seed Cooperative Society Limited (BBSSL), which has resulted in a turnover of Rs 17 crore and 844 PACS have obtained membership. Under the MoU of State Cooperative Marketing Federation with National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL), 1,335 PACS took membership, while 1,612 PACS were made members under the MOU with National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).
